Canoe & Kayak UK Editorial - Posted on 09 Nov 2011
Deciding on the overall Canoe & Kayak UK Awards 2011 winners was a seriously difficult job. We based our choices on various different factors. The results of group and individual tests that we’ve carried out, consultation with our reader panel, input from our Facebook  and Twitter pagews and from here on the website, online voting by you, the readers and lots and lots of discussion and debate.

Once we’d narrowed it down to a shortlist we then started the process all over again using a panel of independent experts with a wide range of expertise and experience in all areas of our sport. Even then it still took a lot of thought before the winners were clear, in certain categories it was incredibly close between the top three, which is why we’ve also opted to give a highly commended award too.

In our opinion the results represent the products and boats that have really stood out in their categories as providing a great experience out on the water.
If choosing between gear and boats was tough then the people & places category was nearly impossible. What became really apparent was that there are a lot of coaches, retailers, and paddlers out there who are really taking things to the next level and pushing the boundaries of customer service, coaching, enthusiasm, inspiration and exploration to the next level.

We hope that these awards will become an annual event and that they will become a celebration of all things that are great about kayaking and canoeing as a sport, and an industry in years to come.

Do you agree with our Winners? Have you got a category that you’d like to see included for next year. Tell us your opinions and thoughts at the forum HERE or e-mail us HERE
